This Rowenta IS6300 review evaluates the pros and cons of the Master Valet line of garment steamers. With the introduction of the IS6300 in the United States, Rowenta celebrated its first full size steamer with vertical support, making it possible to use just one hand to steam a garment. This is unlike some other steamers, where one hand holds the garment while the other guides and maneuvers the attached hose to control the direction of the steam.

This steamer is exceptional in every category and offers features that make removing wrinkles from clothing including an integrated vertical screen to use as a board (so there’s no need to lay garments flat to steam). The unit is also self-contained, allowing us to easily roll it anywhere and start steaming in seconds . With the vertical support, it’s simple to sanitize and remove odors from practically anything including clothing, furniture, vehicles, baby bedding, dog beds and of course clothing and delicate garments, without laying items on a flat surface.

Rowenta IS6300 Design

The Rowenta IS6300 features modern, functional design with a wide steam head and a foot controlled pedal with a super easy to use on/off indicator switch with light and provides automatic shut off when the unit runs out of water. The adjustable height telescopic pole, collapses completely for storage. The water levels can be checked through the transparent water tank. The Rowenta IS6300 tank holds 81 ounces of water and during our test provided 65 minutes of continuous steam.

The IS6300 handles any type of clothing or furnishings with ease and when it’s time to pack up and move to another room the Rowenta IS6300 actually rolls like a backpack on wheels. The streamlined ergonomic design doesn’t place any unnecessary weight on the hands or wrists and the space saving, pull-down, vertical ironing surface makes it super easy to get quality results. Our steamer heated up and produced steam in 42 seconds.

In addition to the exceptional performance of the Rowenta IS6300 the fabric insulated hose is a quality feature and the cool-to-touch design is reminiscent of the type of electrical cords that were initially invented to protected irons from fraying. The cord and the one hand operation mean that hands and skin never come in contact with the heat and steam, keeping you safe from burns.

The IS6300 includes a Quick Tips sheet for easy assembly and is already partially assembled. The IS6300 appears to be extremely well built with durable and sturdy construction and no unnecessary accessories or pieces to get in the way of the steaming heavy garments such as winter coats. The fabric screen rolls up when not in use, simply pull it down to fully extend. It slides up and down to support clothing.

In under 10 minutes our steamer was assembled and ready for use. Accessories include a large fabric brush, lint pad and crease attachment. The roll and press system, means just that, the fabric rolls down for a built-in vertical ironing surface. Once the fabric is rolled down, the unit is ready to press. It has two built-in garment clips and a large hanger. The IS6300 measures 19.5 x 12 x 16.8 inches and it weighs 16.2 pounds, works at 1550 watts, 9 foot cord and a 48 inch insulated, fabric wrapped hose.

During our Rowenta IS6300 review we observed one of the best steamers we have tested to date. It provides superior wrinkle removal, is efficient and is a very good price for all that it does. The Rowenta IS6300 can steam extremely wrinkled articles of clothing quickly, typically in under three minutes. Unlike some of the other full-size steamers that we have testes the Rowenta’s integrated ironing screen and hanging area supports the weights of various types of clothing without feeling delicate or like it was going to topple over. The steamer is easy to assemble, use and really takes very little effort to produce professional results. The IS6300 can also be operated on regular tap water without damaging the unit which provides long-term savings over some lesser expensive models over the long term.

There were two slightly negative items we found during testing. One is that the clips that are used to hang pants and skirts are hard to open because of the roller and the built-in hanger which makes the clips awkwardly in the way when using the hanger for dresses and shirts. The clips are built in and therefore not removable. Secondly, clothing was sometimes slightly damp after steaming for some heavily wrinkled garments so you may need to leave those hanging for a few minutes before wearing to get the best results.

It really doesn’t get better than the Rowenta IS6300, this powerful steamer has features and performance of more expensive steamers like high steam output, easy maneuverability and simple storage.

Are you looking to find real information for the best clothes steamer reviews? We have done an exhausting amount of research and trials to help sort through the many that are on the market today. What started out as simple task of finding something that worked faster than ironing, we found that many clothing steamers were not effective, despite many reviews telling us otherwise. We found out that there are many reviews sites on the internet that are simply taking reviews from Amazon and rewriting them to look like they have done a review. Since we were doing the research anyway, Fashion-Ation.net was created to provide some honest clothing steamer reviews. We actually purchased and reviewed these steamers on our site and gave our feedback on how they performed on dewrinkling clothing.

After doing many reviews of clothing steamers there are two main features to consider that will provide the biggest impact to your satisfaction. The first is the time it takes the steamer to heat up and be ready for use. Some take up to 15 minutes while others may take longer, so you need to consider time factor, especially if you are impatient like we are and don’t like taking any more time than necessary to get your garments done. We are an impatient bunch so waiting for a steamer is like waiting for a pot to boil (literally). The other feature you want to consider is the overall temperature of steam. This can be tricky to discover as some units are inferred as being high temperature because they are high wattage and that is not always the case. High temperature is great as it gets stubborn creases out and has the ability to kill germs and many high wattage units are also high temperature but not always. High wattage will however consume a lot of electricity which increases your utility bills.

There are two main styles of clothing steamers and each one has a specific purpose.

First there is the portable or compact clothing steamer that is typically great for travel or if your home doesn’t have the space for a full-size unit. Many of the portable units were underpowered, spit water or were cheaply built. While compact steamers have become significantly better over the last few years there is still discrepancy between their performance so be sure to do your homework. Compact steamers can give 15 minutes per fill which may be sufficient for your needs. There are a few good units in this category, but this is a place where spending a little extra money is typically worth it as it does not cost much more to get a portable steamer that will actually work.

Secondly there is the full-size steamer. In this category, there is a split between consumer and professional models. We found many of the full-size steamers were actually quite good but some that were expensive were terrible. A good full-size clothing steamer will make short work of making your clothes look nice but don’t always expect the sharp

We put together a list of the best clothing steamers for 2014, which we felt were the best in the industry in terms of performance, design/comfort and value. Picking the best full-size clothing steamer was difficult as there were two that stood out, but they work very differently.

The Rowenta IS6300 was the steamer we decided to keep in our home. It is a mid-price steamer that is well-made and was able to get rid of wrinkles out of clothing that steamers that were twice as expensive. There is a built-in, vertical surface that makes it super easy to steam clothes.

Next was the Rowenta DG8430 which is like a cross between a traditional iron and a steamer. Where this steamer excels is the creasing ability of the iron but since we were opposed to using an iron again, had to call it a second place contender. If perfect creases are important to you, take a look at this steamer as you will be impressed at the quick steaming ability and impressive results.

For the best compact steamer category, the Shark Press and Refresh was the clear winner. This steamer is very innovative, and has control settings to provide the excellent results for any type of clothing. This compact steamer was actually better than some of the full-size steamers.

Since we were building this site to do the best clothes steamer reviews, we thought it would be cool to also add a price comparison chart to help find the best prices for steamers. The Jumbl steamer is an attractively designed little steamer and is equipped with three attachment heads – wool brush, upholstery, and creaser attachments. Measuring only 11.2 inches by 5.5 inches by 4 inches it won’t take up too much room in luggage, however it is a little smaller than a regular iron and is just as heavy.

During our Jumbl travel steamer review we had anticipated this being a great steamer while on the road as it appears well designed, however the performance was lacking. It ran out of hot steam after about ten seconds and then you have to wait for it to build up steam. While we took into consideration that this steamer is small and designed for travel it does not compare to other small steamers such as the Rowenta Pro IS1430 or the DBTech Multi Steamer among others. On top of the wait time, this steamer puts a lot of water onto the clothing being steamed, which further compounds the small water capacity.

While we were able to occasionally able to get enough steam from this unit it took holding the garment tightly in order to get the wrinkles out, since at it’s best the heat output is severely lacking which seemed odd as the handle gets very hot, almost to the point of feeling unsafe, making us think that there should have been enough heat to adequately operate.

If you are looking for a travel steamer, you may want to look for other options.

It utilizes the competency of continuous steam to de-wrinkle your favorite clothes, garments, linens and even heavier garments in half the time of ironing. It comes with a door hook which proves to be the best feature of this product. Hang it on a door, hang your clothing from the steamer and you are on your way to quickly steaming out wrinkles.

The steam is relatively powerful, running at 1000 watts which results in a professional high velocity steam jets and a wide steam head that allows better and even distribution and penetration of powerful steam to your clothes and garments. It freshens and sanitizes clothes and other garments as well as draperies, curtains, upholstery and more.

Conair Compact Fabric Steamer GS33R – Design

The GS33R is a small, lightweight and easy to carry fabric steamer with an integrated handle. One word of advice though is to not try to move the steamer while it is still hot as the heat transfers to the handle. There is an integral cord that wraps in the base for convenient storage and the power switch is conveniently located at the base too. This is a compact and simple device that is easy to use and put all together that yields great results overall.

Conair Compact Fabric Steamer GS33R Performance

The Conair GS33R does a good job on dress clothes, heavier work uniforms and drapes but did not do so well in our test with sheer curtains, which can be hard to get wrinkles out even with a traditional iron. While the GS33R is a good steamer, don’t expect the same level of performance as an iron.

We experienced some spitting of water during the test, but as stated in the directions, you have to keep the stem head elevated, otherwise the water goes back into the steamer which causes water to be spit out. Another warning in the instructions is the manufacturer’s recommendation of using distilled water. While this isn’t required, you will either have to de-calcify the unit as shown in the instructions or the steam head will become clogged up. At this price however, it may be cheaper to just buy a new one instead of buying distilled water.

The hose is a little stiffer than we prefer, but after the water heats up, it becomes more flexible and easier to use.

For a little, inexpensive steamer, the Conair GS33R works well. While not as good as an iron, the price is low and it works faster than an iron to quickly to get wrinkles out of most fabrics. As long as you don’t have the expectations of a professional steamer, the Conair Compact Fabric Steamer GS33R is a great choice.

The Rowenta Pro IS1430 is a nice and compact 1400 watt steamer featuring a wider steam head compared to other steamers in this price point which allows for more efficient steaming pressure for better wrinkle releasing abilities. During our Rowenta IS1430 Review, the steamer heated up in under three minutes operated for a respectable 47 minutes with water storage of 33 ounces, which is impressive at this price.

Unlike many steamers, that have a cheap, hard plastic hose, the IS1430 comes with a fabric hose, which is soft and flexible to keep from catching on clothing. The entire unit is on a 360 degree swivel base so you can steam your garments in any angle convenient for you. Another benefit of the swivel base is you can easily wrap the hose on the top portion, slide it up into place and it will not interfere during steaming.

Included attachments are a: lint pad, upholstery brush, a fabric brush, door hook and crease attachment. To keep the attachments organized product comes with a storage bag for storing attachments. The Rowenta IS1430 Pro Compact Garment Steamer not only works great on clothes, it can also work its magic on slip couch covers, bedding as its steam can easily penetrate even the heaviest fabric and garments.

Rowenta Pro Compact Steamer IS1430 – Design

The IS1430 is a compact, easy to store steamer and includes a storage bag for the attachments to keep from losing them. The power cord is hidden under the base of the unit and the hose and steamer head is designed to be attached neatly to the unit. A door hook is included to hang fabrics for easy steaming. The steamer is well balanced and the handle is in easy reach.

The hose could have been made just a little longer as we ended up tipping the steamer over by over stretching a few times which results in spilling hot water on the floor. While it’s certainly something that can be avoided by paying better attention, an extra six inches of hose would have been nice.

Rowenta Pro Compact Steamer IS1430 – Performance

Reviewing the Rowenta IS1430 we found that it is an easy to use, inexpensive steamer.

We were mostly satisfied with the ability to get most wrinkles and creases out of fabrics but this steamer won’t give you the results of a good ironing. Your clothes will look good, but not perfect. We were pleased with the quick heating time (under three minutes) and ability to go 45 minutes on one tank of water. This will give you time to do a lot of clothing without having to refill and reheat, like you will with most compact steamers.

The unit overall is compact and well designed ergonomically and offers great performance against similarly priced units. While it offers some impressive performance and features for the money, there are a few complaints.

The metal hook is a great feature but not as well designed as the Conair GS33R. The foam stickers that prevent the hook from touching the door fell off easily, which is an annoyance but the hook isn’t well designed and the steamer head fell it off during testing.

We also noted that this steamer does not produce continuous steam, but instead, it steams for about one minute, pauses for about 15 seconds then builds up another burst of steam resulting in uneven performance. It’s important to note that during this pause, condensation is building up in the hose and if you aren’t paying attention, it will spit out water on your garments, which is a bigger concern when steaming delicate fabrics. To minimize this try to keep the hose up high which is easier when using the door hook, when it stays on the door.

There was also some leaking found at the connection of the hose to the base. It seems like it would have been minimized through the use of a washer, but our unit did not have one.

For the money, the Rowenta IS1430 is still a powerful compact fabric steamer that you will get good results from in less time than an iron.

DBTech Multi Steam Cleaner – Performance

During the DBTech Multi-Purpose Steam Cleaner review, we found many uses for it other than removing wrinkles. To say this product is addictive is an understatement. What started as a review for steaming clothes, quickly went to cleaning the house. Dirt, dust and grime just melts off! Any surface can be cleaned and the ability to get into the cracks and crevices that normally would need a toothbrush (or just don’t get cleaned because they are hard to get to) are now easy to clean. Amazingly the burned stains on the glass stove top quickly vanished so no more scraping with a knife blade for an hour! With the amazing versatility of how this thing cleans, can it get rid of wrinkles?

Surprisingly the DBTech Cleaner does a good job of getting rid of wrinkles and even better than steamers costing considerably more. It isn’t as fast as steamers with a wide head but given this is a handheld unit, the focused nozzle makes getting the smaller creases out of garments quickly. We have tested several steamers costing twice as much that could not keep up with the DBTech. To say this unit is a bargain is an understatement.

The cleaner heats up is just under three minutes as advertised but the water capacity is small so you can get about 15 minutes. During use, the unit emits steam for about 20 to 30 seconds and then you have to pause for 20 to 30 seconds while it builds up steam and pressure. This is going to be a problem for any handheld steamer and for big projects, you will need to be patient and refill the tank. The only real gripe is the sound level of the unit, which is by no means a deal breaker in our opinion.

The Conair Clothes Steamer GS7RXF is an upright clothing steamer that provides excellent value for the money! Even though it does not come with many fancy extra features and attachments, Conair packed the GS7RXF with lots of steaming power to remove wrinkles.

The GS7RXF Compact Upright Fabric Steamer by Conair comes in both a 1200 and 1600 watt version. Our Conair GS7RXF review is on the 1600 watt version which typically is about $10 more expensive than the 1200 watt unit and with steamers, the extra wattage is typically worth the expense. The unit overall is a very inexpensive yet powerful clothing steamer with a stand up, three-way collapsible pole which you can use as a hanger for garments. This clothing steamer works great on most garments to easily smooth out creases and wrinkles and works its magic in every fabric down from the very sensitive ones through heavier ones such as jackets, suits, draperies, and upholstery without burning them.

The GS7RXF has a foot activated power on/off switch, large capacity 55 ounce water reservoir that is removable and easy to refill, and it gives off heat for 1 continuous hour. This steamer, with it’s high temperature steam kills dust mites and bedbugs while garments are being steamed.

Conair GS7RXF Design

One of the best features of the GS7RXF is it’s lightweight construction and larger 2″ rear wheels are bigger than many other units which makes rolling it easy on a variety of surfaces. While the machine is lightweight, the liberal use of plastic appears cheap. The short time we tested the GS7RXF showed it works fine but long-term durability is a question.

The hose is smartly designed and connected to a 360 degree swivel that you can use to steam in any angle you want.

The unit has a large 55 ounce water tank provided us with 54 minutes of steam, which is an ample amount to get most steaming done.

The Conair also comes with a metal bar that holds the hose and our clothing which is very convenient, however it is not sturdy and if you put heavy garments the unit, it may tip over.

The unit also includes lint and bristle brush attachments.

Conair GS7RXF Performance

The Conair GS7RXF left us with mixed impressions. The unit is well priced at under $60 at most stores, has a large water tank that will last almost an hour, heats up barely over one minute and is very powerful – all of which are qualities that are hard to find at this price point. Many steamers in this price range tend to spit a lot of water and this one did minimally as well, but if you use the pole and/or keep the head pointed upwards you will probably have no issues as the unit is designed to steam garments vertically.

The stand up pole used to hang garments is a very useful feature as it allows you to properly hang clothing and keep it within easy reach. Unfortunately, the pole is not very sturdy and feels like it could break with heavy garments, not to mention the narrow base and light weight is a recipe to easily topple over.

The nozzle keeps cool during even long sessions which is a nice feature to consider as so many steamers get quite hot and can lead to uncomfortable usage or even slight burns if your aren’t careful.

We found that during testing that the GS7RXF would most of the wrinkles provided they were not too badly creased in heavier garments such as jackets, jeans and sportcoats. While lighter articles were a breeze, the more stubborn creases would mostly come out after repeated swipes while using the head in a circular motion. You may want to consider using an iron for those wrinkles to save some time. If you are looking for sharp creases, this steamer will not work for you but will get a majority of the creases and wrinkles out.

Overall the Conair GS7RXF 1600 watt steamer provides quite a bit of value for the price. While there are shortcomings, you will be hard pressed to find much better performance at this price.

The DR5015 is designed for maximum steam efficiency with only 800 watts of power. It features in base storage, the power cord conveniently stores out of sight underneath and the steam head on the side of the unit. The illuminated off/on switch make it easy to tell when the base is powered on. This hand held power steamer provided us with 18 minutes of steam time with a transparent water tank, which holds 1.7 ounces of water.

For quick touch-ups or full power cleaning, the unit is ready to use in 30 seconds. The steam release is activated by a single push electronic pump. When you aren’t steaming with the DR5015, water isn’t bubbling on the inside which many other steamers do and usually results in leaks on the floor. Another benefit of this is the hose is cool to the touch, alleviating any fears of touching a hot part.

We liked the steam dial that varies from fabric to fabric use as this is usually a feature for more expensive steamers. This is great for fragile fabrics such as polyester, silk, suits, rayons, non-natural and beaded fabrics too. Also, if you require more steam, it comes with a pump that provides an additional burst to get rid of stubborn wrinkles. The wide head provides a quick and efficient diffusion of hot steam, and gave the results of what one would expect for a compact steamer.

There are two minor drawbacks of the Rowenta DR5015 performance, one is that it is not durable enough for frequent use and secondly the tank size. The small size tank limits the number of garments that can be steamed at once, although, the tank is designed for multiple pieces. Typically it can steam 1-3 articles of clothing, before the tank needs refilling. The size makes it perfect for college students and travelers or anyone who needs to steam one or two pieces at a time.

The Rowenta DR5015 review concludes that this unit performs well under most conditions and it does offer excellent wrinkle removal. This lightweight product is best for quick and light duty needs touch ups. Don’t expect it to work like a regular steamer or have the results of an iron. For a steamer that sells for around $30 the DR5015 offers a lot of value.
