This Rowenta IS6300 review evaluates the pros and cons of the Master Valet line of garment steamers. With the introduction of the IS6300 in the United States, Rowenta celebrated its first full size steamer with vertical support, making it possible to use just one hand to steam a garment.  This is unlike some other steamers, where one hand holds the garment while the other guides and maneuvers the attached hose to control the direction of the steam.

This steamer is exceptional in every category and offers features that make removing wrinkles from clothing including an integrated vertical screen to use as a board (so there’s no need to lay garments flat to steam).  The unit is also self-contained, allowing us to easily roll it anywhere and start steaming in seconds . With the vertical support, it’s simple to sanitize and remove odors from practically anything including clothing, furniture, vehicles, baby bedding, dog beds and of course clothing and delicate garments, without laying items on a flat surface.

Rowenta IS6300 Design

The Rowenta IS6300 features modern, functional design with a wide steam head and a foot controlled pedal with a super easy to use on/off indicator switch with light and provides automatic shut off when the unit runs out of water. The adjustable height telescopic pole, collapses completely for storage. The water levels can be checked through the transparent water tank.  The Rowenta IS6300 tank holds 81 ounces of water and during our test provided 65 minutes of continuous steam.

The IS6300 handles any type of clothing or furnishings with ease and when it’s time to pack up and move to another room the Rowenta IS6300 actually rolls like a backpack on wheels.  The streamlined ergonomic design doesn’t place any unnecessary weight on the hands or wrists and the space saving, pull-down, vertical ironing surface makes it super easy to get quality results.  Our steamer heated up and produced steam in 42 seconds.

In addition to the exceptional performance of the Rowenta IS6300 the fabric insulated hose is a quality feature and the cool-to-touch design is reminiscent of the type of electrical cords that were initially invented to protected irons from fraying. The cord and the one hand operation mean that hands and skin never come in contact with the heat and steam, keeping you safe from burns.

The IS6300 includes a Quick Tips sheet for easy assembly and is already partially assembled. The IS6300 appears to be extremely well built with durable and sturdy construction and no unnecessary accessories or pieces to get in the way of the steaming heavy garments such as winter coats. The fabric screen rolls up when not in use, simply pull it down to fully extend. It slides up and down to support clothing.

In under 10 minutes our steamer was assembled and ready for use. Accessories include a large fabric brush, lint pad and crease attachment. The roll and press system, means just that, the fabric rolls down for a built-in vertical ironing surface. Once the fabric is rolled down, the unit is ready to press. It has two built-in garment clips and a large hanger. The IS6300 measures 19.5 x 12 x 16.8 inches and it weighs 16.2 pounds, works at 1550 watts, 9 foot cord and a 48 inch insulated, fabric wrapped hose.

Rowenta IS6300 Performance

During our Rowenta IS6300 review we observed one of the best steamers we have tested to date.  It provides superior wrinkle removal, is efficient and is a very good price for all that it does.  The Rowenta IS6300 can steam extremely wrinkled articles of clothing quickly, typically in under three minutes.  Unlike some of the other full-size steamers that we have testes the Rowenta’s integrated ironing screen and hanging area supports the weights of various types of clothing without feeling delicate or like it was going to topple over.  The steamer is easy to assemble, use and really takes very little effort to produce professional results.   The IS6300 can also be operated on regular tap water without damaging the unit which provides long-term savings over some lesser expensive models over the long term.

There were two slightly negative items we found during testing.  One is that the clips that are used to hang pants and skirts are hard to open because of the roller and the built-in hanger which makes the clips awkwardly in the way when using the hanger for dresses and shirts. The clips are built in and therefore not removable.  Secondly, clothing was sometimes slightly damp after steaming for some heavily wrinkled garments so you may need to leave those hanging for a few minutes before wearing to get the best results.

It really doesn’t get better than the Rowenta IS6300, this powerful steamer has features and performance of more expensive steamers like high steam output, easy maneuverability and simple storage.

The Conair Clothes Steamer GS7RXF is  an upright clothing steamer that provides excellent value for the money! Even though it does not come with many fancy extra features and attachments, Conair packed the GS7RXF with lots of steaming power to remove wrinkles.  

Conair GS7RXF Review

The GS7RXF Compact Upright Fabric Steamer by Conair comes in both a 1200 and 1600 watt version.  Our Conair GS7RXF review is on the 1600 watt version which typically is about $10 more expensive than the 1200 watt unit and with steamers, the extra wattage is typically worth the expense.  The unit overall is a very inexpensive yet powerful clothing steamer with a stand up, three-way collapsible pole which you can use as a hanger for garments. This clothing steamer works great on most garments to easily smooth out creases and wrinkles and works its magic in every fabric down from the very sensitive ones through heavier ones such as jackets, suits, draperies, and upholstery without burning them.

The GS7RXF has a foot activated power on/off switch, large capacity 55 ounce water reservoir that is removable and easy to refill, and it gives off heat for 1 continuous hour.   This steamer, with it’s high temperature steam kills dust mites and bedbugs while garments are being steamed.

Conair GS7RXF Design

One of the best features of the GS7RXF is it’s lightweight construction and larger 2″ rear wheels are bigger than many other units which makes rolling it easy on a variety of surfaces.  While the machine is lightweight, the liberal use of plastic appears cheap.  The short time we tested the GS7RXF showed it works fine but long-term durability is a question.

The hose is smartly designed and connected to a 360 degree swivel that you can use to steam in any angle you want.

The unit has a large 55 ounce water tank provided us with 54 minutes of steam, which is an ample amount to get most steaming done.

The Conair also comes with a metal bar that holds the hose and our clothing which is very convenient, however it is not sturdy and if you put heavy garments the unit, it may tip over.

The unit also includes lint and bristle brush attachments.

Conair GS7RXF Performance

The Conair GS7RXF left us with mixed impressions.  The unit is well priced at under $60 at most stores, has a large water tank that will last almost an hour, heats up barely over one minute and is very powerful – all of which are qualities that are hard to find at this price point.  Many steamers in this price range tend to spit a lot of water and this one did minimally as well, but if you use the pole and/or keep the head pointed upwards you will probably have no issues as the unit is designed to steam garments vertically.

The stand up pole used to hang garments is a very useful feature as it allows you to properly hang clothing and keep it within easy reach.  Unfortunately, the pole is not very sturdy and feels like it could break with heavy garments, not to mention the narrow base and light weight is a recipe to easily topple over.

The nozzle keeps cool during even long sessions which is a nice feature to consider as so many steamers get quite hot and can lead to uncomfortable usage or even slight burns if your aren’t careful.

We found that during testing that the GS7RXF would most of the wrinkles provided they were not too badly creased in heavier garments such as jackets, jeans and sportcoats.  While lighter articles were a breeze, the more stubborn creases would mostly come out after repeated swipes while using the head in a circular motion.  You may want to consider using an iron for those wrinkles to save some time.   If you are looking for sharp creases, this steamer will not work for you but will get a majority of the creases and wrinkles out.

Overall the Conair GS7RXF 1600 watt steamer provides quite a bit of value for the price.  While there are shortcomings, you will be hard pressed to find much better performance at this price.

Haan GS30 Professional Review

We reviewed the Haan GS30 and expecting it to be one of the best steamers we have reviewed.  What did we find?  The Haan GS30 is advertised as a professional grade, 1500-watt garment steamer.  The 212 degree steam output is the highest we have tested and Haan claims this temperature will kill e-coli, dust mites, salmonella bacteria and other germs in one second while steaming making this a great product to sanitize and steam bedding, sofas, drapery and clothing.  Even though the steam is that powerful, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will be a cause for damage and is actually much gentler than those of a regular table top iron that could even burn clothes!

Haan GS30 Professional – Design

The Haan GS30 comes with some handy accessories such as a handheld pressing board, creasing tools, and upholstery, lint, fabric and fur brushes among others. During testing we found the most useful attachment was the pressing board which when placed behind the garment, is able to make excellent creases.

One of the most handy features you can get with any steamer and is included with the GS30 is a built in telescopic hanger with adjustable clips and locking bar which is adjustable up to about 62 inches off the ground.  We thought the rod was about 1 foot too short to be truly effective to steam clothes on for even slightly above average clothing, sheets, etc.

Haan included the large (2500 ml) removable water reservoir that is easy to fill it up at a faucet and is designed with indicator lights to indicate when needs refilling.  Additionally, this steamer has automatic shut off safety features built in too.

The base of the steamer includes a four-wheel caster system which provides decent stability and balance and rolls easily from room after room.

The steamer measures 12 inches wide, 11 inches deep, and 10 inches high. It weighs 7.8 pounds and is backed by a one year warranty.

Overall the Haan GS30 Professional Clothes Steamer appears to be a very durable and well-made unit that should give years of use, which you would expect with a machine at this price.

Haan GS30 Professional – Performance

Our review of the Haan GS30 was quite positive.  The unit is easy set-up, has a well thought out design and great performance.  Steam comes out quick and consistent, without the spurting and gurgling that is typically found in less expensive steamers.  It only took 42 seconds during testing to be fully ready for use and lasted for 94 minutes.   We really like the high heat and claimed ability to kill germs.  While we don’t know that 212 degrees will kill 99.99% of germs in one second of steam, it is a good selling point to us.

The nine high-velocity steam jets on the oversized head (almost oversized) smooths away wrinkles and freshens up most fabrics, especially cottons in seconds — faster and much gentler than a traditional tabletop iron, without the stiffness and danger of scorching.  Delicate fabrics were safely steamed and looked great.  Some heavier garments with heavy creasing will take a little time to straighten out but the large head makes it faster than many other units

Our biggest complaints we had with this unit is the hanger height and the stability. Neither one is a deal breaker however.  Possibly for under 6’ users it wouldn’t be a problem for the hanger height, but an extra foot would do wonders for larger items.  Also, while the stability was never an issue during testing but we think should be a little better as heavy objects will make the unit a bit top heavy and the potential exists to topple over.  Even so, with the automatic shut-off safety features, this is less of a concern than other steamers.

We found that the cool mitt and pressing board were very useful during testing to getting the best steaming results and also not burning our hands.

Overall our Haan GS30 review showed excellent value for the money by making easy work of most garments, fast and consistent operation and long capacity due to the large water tank.

Steamfast SF510 Review

In this Steamfast SF510 Review we tested a lightweight, full-size clothing steamer which offers excellent value for the money. This steamer is easy to assemble and store, delivers high velocity steam for 50 consecutive minutes and it can be classified in a separate category as a multi-functional, utility steamer. Not only does it work well with any type of fabric, it can also deodorize and detail vehicles.

The sturdy Steamfast SF510 makes garments look like a professional dry cleaner, removing the most stubborn wrinkles from clothing and stains from upholstery when the brush attachment is used. The brush attachment works with the steam to pull open the fabric weave to allow it to penetrate the fibers.

This steamer is a perfect way to reduce the wrinkles in individual clothing items or multiple loads of laundry. It handles coats, dresses, suits, delicate garments, beading or sequins on gowns or formal wear, table cloths, linens, carpet and furniture.

An additional benefit of the SF510 is that it penetrates deep without chemicals to kill dust mites, bed bugs, and it is effective against common allergens, germs and bacteria. For the best results, use distilled water; this is a precaution that works well for all at home steamers. Hard water leaves behind mineral and lime deposits, which over time will build up and cause problems with steam outflow, by clogging up the miniature ports in the head. If it is not possible to use distilled or filtered water, the manufacturer recommends regularly removing deposit build up from the head with, “Steamfast Lemon Acid” cleaner.

Steamfast SF510 Design

Designed with an insulated cool-to-touch hose, 62 inch looping, telescopic rod and clothes hanger to allow for vertical steaming, the rod is adjustable and detachable, it extends to 53.94”. The Steamfast 510 has a removable easy-to-fill tank, with a wide head that continuously blasts steam at a high rate. It has a 6.2 ft cord, 1500 watts of power and it is equipped with an automatic safety shutout, just in case the unit overheats. This lightweight steamer weighs a mere 10.82 lbs. has a built-in ironing surface which includes a cotton cover, pad and wood topper. The integrated storage/cord management system has extra room for other accessories.

This steamer feels like it could have been built a little stronger as heavy garments made the unit seem a little top heavy and the hanger could have built beefier.  While we never had any issues during testing, there may or may not be issues long term.

Steamfast 510 Performance

The Steamfast SF510 is a self-contained steamer and you simply put the clothing on the included hanger attached to the steamer.  The performance of the SF510 is great overall and it takes less time to use than a conventional iron. The wide spread head provides a reliable, efficient amount of steam to release wrinkles from a majority of fabrics. The steam is gentle on delicate fabrics yet releases a powerful stream to clean heavy garments.  Unlike some other portable steamers we have tested, the steam is continuous and it doesn’t require a manual pump or a release button.  We had really good results with polys, knits and twills and delicate fabrics such as lace, silk, rayon and chiffon while cottons only looked fresh out of the dryer good.  We found that deep wrinkles still needed an iron to completely remove them.

The unit heats up really fast, with ours coming in at 43 seconds and the easy to fill water tank has a capacity of 46 oz. and ran for 48 minutes.   Large rolling casters add convenience and maneuverability and the SF510 works well with or without the brush attachment. During testing, we preferred to use the brush attachment for heavy fabrics and upholstery and no attachment on clothing as it reduced the steaming time.

A few things that could have been better include a longer power cord and hose and our model did leak water from the tank.  As an everyday steamer, SF510 outperforms more expensive steamers in the same weight class. Simply hang a garment on the attached hanger and in a few minutes, expect complete wrinkle removal. When done with steaming, the telescoping handle retracts in seconds and the collapsible hanger folds in half for easy storage.

This Steamfast SF510 Review concludes that in terms of performance, this is a pretty good and versatile steamer for home and vehicle use. It is capable of smoothing all but deep wrinkles but for the price this steamer is an excellent bargain.

Singer ESP2 Magic Steam Press product review

The Singer ESP2 Magic Steam Press review evaluates a tabletop ironing press that gives dry cleaning quality results in your home. It provides better ironing results in about half of the time it would take to iron with a conventional steam iron. It has a large pressing area that can press fabric items such as tablecloths, dress pants, and curtains. This unit does ironing and steaming with professional precision and quality and is also portable enough to store in a closet.

Singer ESP2 Magic Steam Press design

The Singer ESP2 Magic Steam Press is 13 x 24 x 12 inches and weighs about 22 pounds and a large pressing surface area of 24 x 9 inches, which is 14 times larger than a conventional iron.  Electronic fabric temperature settings are preset for nylon, silk, wool, cotton, and linen are provided with linen being the hottest and nylon being the coolest. These settings ensure you don’t overheat the garment you are working on.  Its features include a temperature ready indicator, automatic shut off, lockable handle, and 100 pounds of pressure. The temperature ready indicator shows when the iron is ready to use. The iron is equipped with an automatic shut off when the unit is on which is set at 15 minutes. There are also some accessories that come with the Singer ESP2 Magic Steam Press including a measuring cup, spray bottle, pressing cushion, washable pad cover, and instruction manual.

Singer ESP2 Magic Steam Press Performance

The Singer ESP2 Magic Steam Press presses all sorts of fabrics very well, from thick fabrics, golfing gloves, and even the simple dress shirts or blouses.

The cons of this product are minimal but are going to be cons due to the weaknesses of steam presses in general.  First the Singer ESP2 Magic Steam Press is heavy at 22 pounds.  This isn’t a negative against the Singer but all presses in general.  While the weight is a negative, the positive to the weight is that with just fingertip force you will be able to apply 100 pounds of pressure to really get wrinkles, much more effectively than most steamers and even irons too.  The weight of the plates is what gives the great, dry cleaner results.    Another con, and this is again a common one related to presses, is presses do not generally do well on small or intricate areas like collars or shoulders.   This is the tradeoff to get the best wrinkle free results.  Overall, it does a very good job on pressing flat sections of clothes, but a little touch up with a regular iron could be necessary.

This press works super-fast with only a few seconds needed to have crease free results.  There is an auto alarm feature which ensures you do not keep the press on clothing for too long which is good in theory but obnoxious to use as every 10 seconds it goes off and there is no way to disable it.

Another feature that we liked on this press that made it better than the Steamfast SF680, is the wide opening that makes it easy to position clothes on the surface.  While the 680 had a slight edge in performance, the wider opening is something to consider if you are purchasing a press steamer.

Home Touch PS-200 Review

Are you looking for a steamer that is inexpensive yet still offers good results?  Read our Home Touch PS-200 review to see if this steamer can perform.  The Home Touch PS-200 is made by HoMedics, which is responsible for developing commercial grade products for the home. HoMedics Inc was founded in 1987 and since that time the company has dominated the health and wellness market by providing top of the line products. Their innovative steamer is designed to enhance users’ lives by adding convenience and dependable garment care.

The Home Touch PS-200 is a great alternative to ironing; it has all the benefits of a commercial press, without making an unnecessary trip to pick-up dry cleaning.  The unit is also designed to refresh fabrics, eliminates odors and release difficult wrinkles.

Home Touch PS-200 Design

The Home Touch PS-200 is a lightweight commercial grade garment steamer with a steam nozzle and a “SafeTouch” hose that attaches to the clothes hanger hook for easy storage, when not in use. There’s drain plug at the hose base to allow for quick emptying of any water remaining after steaming.

The PS-200 uses 1500 watts of power and has a steam output time of 45 seconds. The base is small and the unit is very stable and the rolling casters make for convenient transport.  The PS-200 also has an adjustable telescopic pole with a large water tank providing an advertised 40 minutes of use.  This steamer does require the use of distilled water, otherwise the steam holes will get clogged up in time.
The steam comes out of a 5-1/2-by-2-inch flat nozzle at the end of a flexible 5-foot hose, which is covered by a durable heat-resistant fabric.

Some other notable design elements include a low water auto shut-off which is a great safety feature and a convenient drain for the water at base.  While we did not experience any issues, we recommend some caution as the drain plug is a plastic screw and could potentially strip out.

The PS-200 includes a flexible, heat resistant steam hose that is covered with a material which keeps it safe to touch.  There is also a fabric clothing brush included.

The PS-200 also has a garment pole, which is a great feature as it is more convenient to use the steamer.  However, the PS-200’s pole could be made a little stronger for heavier garments and a little longer for us taller folks.  The power cord is 5ft long which will work fine in most instances but we typically like to see steamers with 6ft or longer.

The steamer was extremely easy to set up and the company stands behind their product with a 2 year warranty whereas most steamer companies will only warranty them for 1 year.   

Home Touch PS-200 Performance

Even given the low price of the PS-200, HoMedics has made what appears to be a sound product.

During our Home Touch PS-200 review we were able to get consistent steam for 46 minutes and was quickly ready to use in 46 seconds.  With this unit, 46 minutes should be enough to do 10-20 articles of clothing depending on the garment and your attention to detail.  Many steamers in the PS-200 price range will tend to sputter often, leaving water on your garments, our PS-200 was mostly sputter free.  Also this steamer has a powerful 1,500 watts which is impressive at this price point.  The performance of the PS-200 was good, and one of the best in the $50-$60 range.  It works great on lightweight fabrics such as knits, t-shirts, dress shirts, etc but did struggle on heavier garments.  While it would typically get the wrinkles out of those, it did take more time than an iron would have. 

While the PS-200 is good, there were a few things we would like to see improved.  During use, our unit rolled around a bit, which is a minor annoyance.  An inexpensive locking nut located on the wheels would easily solve that.   As noted in the design section, a taller and stronger garment pole and/or a more stable base to decrease the tendency of top-heaviness would be great but we have yet to find a steamer under $150 with a pole we felt was of sufficient quality.  If this feature is important check out the Haan GS30 Review or the Rowenta IS6300 Review

In addition to using distilled water, in order to keep the steamer performing at optimal levels, ensure that all water is completely removed before storing to ensure long life.

Overall, we were pleased with the performance of the Home Touch PS-200 review.  This garment steamer, while not perfect, offers a lot of value and performance for such a low priced steamer.  If you are looking for an inexpensive or entry-level steamer, the Home Touch PS-200 is an excellent choice.

It’s a full-size garment steamer that is functional and compact, doesn’t take up a lot of space in a room and it rolls anywhere in a snap.

This is a unique product, because it actually has a green light indicator signaling when the steam is ready to use.

Conair GS60 Design

The GS60 is silver with a black trim and a base handle that will never heat up handling it will always be safe, easy and worry free. With 1200 watts of power, this fabric steamer is good for removing unwanted wrinkles. The Conair GS60 is designed to heat up in 5 minutes and to provide a powerful flow of continuous steam for 40 minutes. The unit has an automatic shut off sensor, an insulated hose and caster wheels. The accessories include an over the door hook and a lint and crease attachment. It measures 9.54L x 10.25W x 15.25H. This fabric steamer weighs 7 pounds.

It can be used for most fabrics whether cotton, silk, wool, even bedding, curtains and sheers too.  Conair GS60 Deluxe Compact Fabric Steamer has a base handle that will never heat up at all, so touching and handling it will always be easy and worry free.

Conair GS60 Performance

Overall we were disappointed with the Conair GS60.  From the moment we turned it on, it leaked all over the floor.  While we have tested many compact steamers that leaked, having a full-size steamer do it is very disappointing.   Possibly there are some other redeeming qualities.  Well actually, no.  For starters this steamer took 7 minutes and 18 seconds to heat up, which was more than the advertised 5 minutes.  While this isn’t a huge amount of time, even 5 minutes is a bit long for steamers in general.  Maybe it’s good at steaming when it is ready to use.  Guess again.  In one of our uses, water would not reach the steam head from the water reservoir as it just remained in the base, despite the green indicator light being on, signaling that it was ready to steam.  Once we poured out water to half way it for some unexplained reason started to work.  So when the GS60 started steaming we were ready to get some wrinkles out of clothes.  With anticipation building and excitement in the air that wrinkles were going to quickly vanish we were again disappointed.  Dewrinkling our first garment which was a dress shirt took a long time.  We had to pull the shirt tight while steaming and after several passes it had wet streaks from spitting from the steamer.    We usually test more garments but at this point we had enough.

After reading this Conair GS60 Review and you are thinking “let’s get it”, we would like to recommend that you get a crisp $50 bill and set it on fire, since the end result is going to be the same.  You could probably pick blindly from all the other clothing steamer choices available and get a better steamer.

When purchasing a steamer there are just a few things you want, most importantly you need something that steams well and is easy to use, which the Panasonic NI-FS900 review shows. This steamer is an innovative machine that brings the best of the capabilities of a steamer and iron. The NI-FS900 can be used as a steamer for quick wrinkle removal and then as a conventional steam iron to get the crisp presses of sleeves and collars. It comes along with a few extra features that take it above and beyond many other steamers in its price range.

Panasonic NI-FS900 Design

While the Panasonic NI-FS900 is lightweight, only weighing just under 10 pounds, this machine packs a big punch. The water base holds a very generous 67 ounces which provided 110 minutes of continuous steam in testing.

One of our favorite design elements of this steamer is its built-in water pump. Because of this, the steamer is able to create the steam directly at the head rather than at the base of the machine. This means that the stream of steam that is produced is more direct and in a more consistent flow, which blasts wrinkles faster. It is also because of this feature that the Panasonic NI-FS900 can act as a steam iron as well. The soleplate is made of titanium which makes it super durable and smooth when ironing.

We also absolutely loved the streamline design and the easy accessibility of the overall layout. Not only is it light enough to work with but it also has a very slender design that makes it easy to move around. As a side note, this also makes certain that it’s not an eyesore when it’s standing around the room.

An added bonus to this steamer is all of the accessories that come along straight out of the box. There is a very handy soleplate cover, a helpful insulated glove and a nifty micro ironing board. We would recommend using the soleplate cover when you’re working with fragile fabrics. This lowers the intensity of the heat and gently disperses the heat or steam more evenly. The insulated glove is super helpful when you’re going to be working with the steamer for longer periods of time. I would also highly recommend using it when attaching the soleplate cover, just as added protection from burns and such. The micro ironing board is also a very useful addition as it can be used to help make ironing tricky spots like collars and sleeves much more manageable and stress free.

Panasonic NI-FS900 Performance

With its “60 second Quick Start” feature, it makes it a breeze to steam any garment fast. In the time that it takes you to get your shoes on, you can be ready to steam your coat to perfection.

This steamer also has a very convenient “3-Level Steam Adjustment” ability that can make steaming a variety of materials quick and easy. With the adjustable steaming levels, you’re also assured that your more fragile pieces won’t get ruined. I would recommend starting off at a lower level, then working your way up based on the thickness and durability of the fabric you’re steaming. When adjusting your steam level it’s always a good idea to do a quick test on a portion of the fabric that won’t be seen.

While it is a versatile unit, the steam was a little on the weak side and the hangar is weak and the base too narrow to keep heavy articles of clothing from swaying the unit during use.

Overall the NI-FS900 is a great and versatile steamer in a class all its own, bringing the quick convenience of a steamer and the crispness of an iron into one unit. The unit is made of aluminum which is very well-suited for commercial steaming, resists rust and offers lasting benefits for the user. Consumers who purchase this model can expect to enjoy using this steamer for a long time, without ever needing maintenance or repairs.

The JIFFY 4000I-1330 has a gauge on the side with a clear view, which allows the user to check for sediment build-up. To save time and money on sediment cleaning, use distilled water, especially if there’s hard water in the home.

The steamer requires 1500 watts/120 Volts of power and it takes an internal corrosion resistant, stainless steel boiler tank 15 minutes to pre-heat the water and once heated, then an additional 5 minutes to reach full steam. The large 1 gallon (3.79L) reservoir holds enough water for 2 hours of continuous steam time. A red indicator light comes on when the unit is ready to use and there’s a fusible link with an automatic shut off feature.

JIFFY 4000I-1330 Performance

The JIFFY 4000I-1330 is an amazing steamer that blasts wrinkles out of anything we threw at it.  With the included attachments we could press perfect pleats (which is the first steamer to be able to do so in our opinion) and make beautiful creases too. The Jiffy operates in a nice and quiet manner with no spitting, hissing or sputtering sounds while the steam is heating up or in use.  The capabilities of the JIFFY 4000I-1330 are unmatched by any other clothing steamer and we not tested a steamer that can match the JIFFY’s performance, however there are a few cons the home user should consider before purchasing it.

The biggest con to the Jiffy 4000I-1330 is that it doesn’t have an adjustable screen or pull-down press area. For a stand-up steamer, this is a very beneficial feature to getting the best results.  While you can hang a regular hangar over the door, it’s difficult to find a good angle to steam clothing and it requires patience while steaming because it takes a long time to maneuver clothing, along with arm strength, dexterity and flexibility. We would recommend the Jiffy steam board because this makes it a lot easier to remove wrinkles. Over time, using the JIFFY 4000I-1330 on a regular door will cause damage to the wood because of the high heat and moisture.  The steam board includes a garment hanger and two clips and it has a moisture and mold resistant backing. While the steam board can be temporarily mounted with an over the door bracket, it is heavy and inconvenient to repeatedly take it down and put it back up to steam, so we recommend permanently mounting it. The steam board does include hardware, however drill mounting is necessary and there aren’t any pre-drilled holes, so if you are considering this option make sure you have adequate space and structure to mount it.  Expect to pay around $80 for the board.

Another con that is worth mentioning is that it takes 15 minutes to heat up.  For the commercial steamer that will be using this unit all day, it isn’t a concern but for the home user it’s not the most convenient.

In conclusion of the JIFFY 4000I-1330 Review, if you need the best for steaming your clothes it’s well worth the expense.

The Rowenta IS9200 has a very high steam output, which is one of the reasons why this steamer is so popular.  Pricing for this model is around $180.

Another reason for the popularity of the Rowenta IS9200 is that all of the accessories have a space within the unit and the handle telescopes, making it easy to store anywhere which is a nice consideration for a commercial steamer. Although, the IS9200 is used for at home clothing care, the distinction of “commercial” means that the unit is designed for personal and professional use. This is a plus for household use because the Rowenta IS9200 can take on furnishings, clothing and yet still produce powerful steam for pet hair removal and tile and grout cleaning.

Rowenta IS9200 Design

The Rowenta IS9200 features a foot pedal for operating the on/off switch and for retracting the cord. It has a built-in hanger and tilt-and-roll construction, designed to roll easily on its large back wheels for transport and storage. An extra-large water tank holds 1 gallon (3785ml) of water that provides over 2.5 hours of continuous use. Adjustable steam control settings, provides variable options for steam levels to match clothing fabric. An adjustable telescopic pole makes it simple and easy to pull up or push down to various heights.

A diffuse steam head offers superior steam quality, which heats up in less than 60 seconds. Although the steam gets very hot, the hose and handle remain cool to touch. The full size valet steamer automatically flips off when the tank runs out of water and this steamer uses regular tap water, making it convenient for home use.

The IS9200 has a base with two attachment compartments for the accessories which include a crease attachment, lint, and upholstery and fabric brush. Another great design element that shows the attention Rowenta pays to customers is the power cord that retracts into the base, which makes storage of this unit much easier.

This steamer has 1550 watts of power for easy wrinkle removal and it can straighten crooked sequins and beads and fluff depressed ruffles. The gun metal grey body with a deep purple border makes for an attractive appearance. The Rowenta IS9200 weighs 27 pounds and it measures 7 x 62 x 12 inches.

During our reviews of steamers, we have noticed that several steamers that are supposed to take care of all window treatments in the home were unable to do because the cord was too short to reach the top of the curtains and drapes. That problem solved with the IS9200, it comes with an extension rod which extends to allow steam to penetrate hard to reach places.

Rowenta IS9200 Performance

In this Rowenta IS9200 Review, we were mostly pleased with the results from this steamer but there were a few nagging problems to justify the price tag.

This steamer is made from good quality materials, and is simple to use. Comparing the Rowenta to the Jiffy steamers, you will see a big difference in the materials used as Rowenta uses a lot of plastic while the Jiffy uses metal.  We are on the fence whether it really makes a difference, but metal seems to be a more solid material.  The IS9200 is very easy to use – fill the unit with water, turn the steamer on with a tap of the foot, choose steam setting and in just over a minute,  you are ready to go.

The hanger is convenient and solidly built.  It provides ample adjustment which is a shortcoming for many of the steamers we have tested so you can do long garments without concern.  There is also no worry with the IS9200 that it is top heavy and unstable when hanging heavier garments.

We liked the power settings for the steam with low, medium and high. The high works extremely well on heavy fabrics and quickly gets rid of wrinkles.  The lower settings were a bit too high in our opinion for delicate fabrics.  An extra low setting would have been ideal. While it’s not iron quality, the included creaser attachment does a really good job seams and collars.  The IS9200 is also very quiet.

Something we would have liked to see in a steamer at this price would be a back screen like the Rowenta IS6300.   The screen makes it so much easier to get professional results and at this price is expected.   Another odd choice by Rowenta was the small steamer head.  A larger steam head would have been a better choice and would give faster steaming results.  Last, while the wheels were large and can go through carpet easily, they don’t swivel which makes in inconvenient to easily turn.

Overall, the IS9200 is on the expensive side, but you get a well-made, nicely designed product, one that steams for a long time, has a ton of power to provide great wrinkle removing results.   While there are a few small inconveniences, make no mistake that the IS9200 is a powerful steamer that will give great results.
