There are specific instructions to steam all types of fabrics with a corresponding chart that lists the clothing type such as blazers, skirts, dresses, pants and shirts.

The garment care guide can only be downloaded from the Shark Clean website, as this information cannot be found in the accompanying pamphlet nor is it included in the instruction manual, which is annoying. The Shark Press and Refresh is very easy to use and it works exactly as promised. There’s no release button, just hold the trigger and place the “wrinkle eraser” directly on the fabric to allow the steam to release wrinkles. The Shark Press and Refresh works like a heavy duty model, it’s tough on wrinkles and it comes with wrinkle eraser pressing bar. It is billed as the steamer that fits your lifestyle. This steamer is a gem; it can take good care of any type of fabric and upholstery. The Press and Refresh performs well on slipcovers, bedding, car seats, stuffed animals, window treatments, linen tablecloths, pillows and mattresses. This steamer effectively reduces odors, and sanitizes for a germ free home. It’s great for cleaning up after pets on sofas and clothing. And it completely eliminates dust mites.

The unit itself looks heavy, but it only weighs 3.3 pounds. The compact Shark Press and Refresh steamer measures 7.5 x 6.0 x 14.5, which is (approximately 9 by 14 inches). The Shark Press and Refresh creates ready to wear garments in minutes.  Distilled water is recommended to keep the unit from clogging.

Frame attachments, vertical ironing pad and hook clips fit over any door to make it easier to steam clothing without using a traditional ironing board. When it’s used as a sanitizer, the Shark Press and Refresh kills 99.9% of common household bacteria and germs.

There isn’t any back spitting, leakage or squirting of hot steam, which can cause burns to the hands as is a typical issue for many compact steamers. During our testing it took 1 ½ minutes to heat up which is excellent.  We were really impressed with the wrinkle pressing bar that when used with the steamers got some really tough wrinkles out.  Additionally it was nice to test a steamer with a long cord, measuring in at 20 ft.  It is really frustrating to test the compact steamers that only come with a 6 ft cord as they are super handy to steam couches, drapes, etc where they sit.  This steamer is super easy to use and while these compact steamers are usually better for only doing touch ups it actually did quite well on most wrinkles.

There are some minor gripes such as it being a little heavy and the small amount of water that it can hold.  It isn’t super heavy, about as much as an iron but you may not want to do an entire basket of clothes and the small reservoir is pretty much a given for any compact steamer.
